Baby’s first trip to the desert (I’m baby)! While I’ve lived in California for almost a decade, the desert has never really been big draw for me, but honestly I couldn’t have been more wrong. This trip was a total dream, and not just because my kids and husband stayed at home. We ate, we drank, we relaxed by the pool, we survived getting slightly lost in the desert. As soon as we booked this trip I knew that I was going to bring this dress, from Target, which turned out to be prefect for the most amazing (covid-safe, socially distanced) meal at Sandfish in Palm Springs. While my lovely friends (don’t worry, they’re in my bubble) took pity on me and did the cooking, which was stellar, I was in charge of the beverages. I wanted something easy, and was told to bring tequila, so Paloma’s seemed like a good choice. While I did come up with something a little fancier, I’m going to save that for another post, and keep this one simple. This is a basic, minimal ingredient, dump-and-go-so-I-can-get-to-the-pool cocktail. It relies heavily on Fever-Tree’s Sparkling Grapefruit mixer, which was perfect since we couldn’t find any fresh grapefruit, I guess it is the desert… All joking aside, I was incredibly lucky to be able to take this trip during a time when so many people are struggling, and I can’t thank my husband enough for working and parenting solo through the week so that I could do this. While taking self-care is undeniably something we all need, it’s not always something that everyone has the privilege of doing. We all get by with a little help from our friends. Pool-side Easy Paloma
2 oz. Tequila 1 bottle of Fever-Tree Sparkling Grapefruit Juice of half a lime Combine tequila and lime juice in a pool-safe glass filled with ice, top with the sparkling grapefruit and relax. Cheers!
